Calling all SANTHE scientists (aged 35 and below), the search is on for science's next pop idol!
FameLab is an international science communication and public speaking competition which offers the opportunity for you to hone your science communication skills, meet inspiring scientists from around the world and to learn, network and promote your science.
If you are a brave and talented young scientist (age 21 to 35) and you think you can explain your research in just 3 minutes AND excite, intrigue and entertain at the same time, then come battle it out at FameLab with other hopefuls
for a spot on the world stage. FameLab seeks to find and support the world's most talented new science communicators. Participants have three minutes to win over the judges and audience with a scientific talk that excels for its content, clarity and charisma. The competition is a project of the British Council and Cheltenham Festivals. AHRI, SANTHE & DRILL will co-host training and heats in Durban, South Africa from 11 to 12 February. On the 11th, participants will get a hands-on, full day of training in public speaking. On the 12th, the heats will be held. The overall winner will go through to a national final. The winner of the South African leg of the competition will travel to the UK's renowned Cheltenham Science Festival in June to compete in the FameLab International Final. Delivering their talk to a live audience, the international finalists battle it out for first place to take home a prize and the glory!
