Dr Barbara Burmen, SANTHE affiliated Senior Research Officer at the Kenya Medical Research Institute/Center for Disease Control and Prevention Research and Public Health Collaboration (KEMRI/CDC), has won first place in the AuthorAID Mentor of the Year 2016 competition.
AuthorAID is a pioneering global network that provides support, mentoring, resources and training for over 14 000 researchers in low and middle income countries to publish and communicate their work.
Burmen has been registered as an AuthorAID mentor since May 2016. She has also acted as a facilitator on AuthorAID online research-writing courses, and been involved in more than six mentoring interactions.
Burmen herself has authored over 10 publications in peer-reviewed journals. She has made numerous international conference presentations on TB and HIV operations research. She is also a recipient of several international awards.
