SANTHE trainee gives public talk in Durban

Barbara Burmen, a SANTHE Post-doctoral trainee based at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, today presented her research in Durban at a public lecture hosted by the Centre for the AIDS Programmes of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA).

She spoke on "Evaluating the value of prospective contact investigation of household members of patients with drug-susceptible tuberculosis in childhood TB control in Kisumu County, Kenya."

Burmen has served as a lead investigator for a number of research studies and authored several internationally recognised publications. In June 2018, she won the Gro Brundtland Award for her outstanding work in the field of public health and sustainable development. Her research interests include TB and HIV operations research and drug susceptibility.
