Anathalie Umuhoza is a tutorial assistant at the University of Rwanda in Kigali and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Medical Microbiology. She has a background in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences, which provides her with strong technical expertise in infectious disease diagnostics.

Her research focuses on improving tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis in resource-limited settings. Specifically, her master’s project evaluates the utility of the GeneXpert MTB/RIF Ultra cycle threshold (Ct) values in predicting Mycobacterium tuberculosis culture growth time and culture conversion, which are important indicators for monitoring TB disease progression and treatment response.

Her work aims to strengthen TB diagnostic and monitoring tools, contributing to improved clinical management of tuberculosis in settings with limited laboratory resources.

SANTHE is a pan-African consortium, with the Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) serving as the operational site lead and funded by the Science for Africa Foundation through the DELTAS Africa programme; the Gates Foundation; Gilead Sciences Inc.; Aidsfonds; and the Ragon Institute of Mass General, MIT, and Harvard.
