OUR SCIENTISTS

SANTHE scientists are extensively experienced in research and training. Possessing multidisciplinary expertise ranging from population, basic and translational, social and clinical sciences, their work collectively focuses on: surveillance of circulating HIV viruses to inform prevention, treatment or eradication strategies; mechanisms underlying heterogeneity of immune responses following vaccination or infection in African populations (with relevance to HIV, TB or SARS-CoV-2); TB immunology; and HIV Cure.

SANTHE is an Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) flagship programme funded by the Science for Africa Foundation through the DELTAS Africa programme; the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Gilead Sciences Inc.; and the Ragon Institute of Mass General, MIT, and Harvard.
