Chishiba Kabengele

Chishiba is an epidemiologist and research clinician whose work focuses on tuberculosis (TB), HIV, and neglected tropical diseases in Zambia. He serves as a Co-Principal Investigator at the Centre for Family Health Research in Zambia (CFHRZ), where he supports the coordination of observational studies and phase I–III clinical trials, with responsibilities that include overseeing participant safety and ensuring data quality.

His current research focuses on TB transmission and treatment outcomes in high-risk settings, including correctional facilities, as well as integrated TB/HIV care. He uses national health information systems to generate evidence that can inform public health decision-making.

He previously completed a SANTHE-sponsored MSc in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and a Postgraduate Diploma in TB/HIV Management from the University of Cape Town. He is currently pursuing a PhD in TB epidemiology and is an Africa Health Communications Fellow (fraycollege).

Through his work with national and international partners, he aims to translate research findings into practice and policy to improve patient outcomes.
