Hepatitis B surface antigen loss in individuals with chronic hepatitis B virus and HIV-1 infections in Botswana

AIDS

This article investigates the phenomenon of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) loss in individuals who have both chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) and HIV-1 infections in Botswana. HBsAg loss refers to the disappearance of the HBV surface antigen from the bloodstream, often indicating a significant change in the course of HBV infection. The study examines how frequently this occurs in individuals with both HBV and HIV-1 infections in Botswana. Understanding HBsAg loss in this context can provide insights into the interaction between these two viruses and help improve treatment strategies.
