Gbolahan Ajibola is a Clinical Researcher at the Botswana Harvard Health Partnership (BHP) in Gaborone, Botswana, dedicated to addressing the paediatric HIV epidemic. He holds an MBBS, MPH and MSc, combining clinical expertise with public health and methodological training to support impactful research in HIV treatment and cure strategies.
His work includes leading pivotal clinical trials that have informed global HIV treatment guidelines, including the Early Infant Treatment (EIT) Study, which pioneered initiating antiretroviral therapy within the first week of life. This approach significantly reduced viral reservoir formation and established a high-quality cohort for cure-related research.
He is currently focused on achieving antiretroviral therapy–free remission in children and serves as Study Vice-Chair for the IMPAACT 2042/Tatelo Plus trial, which investigates broadly neutralising antibodies as a non-daily intervention to achieve post-treatment viral control in paediatric populations. His overarching goal is to translate scientific advances generated in Botswana into improved global clinical practice, contributing to the vision of an AIDS-free generation.
