Margaret Mokomane is a Medical Laboratory Scientist with over 20 years of experience in clinical microbiology. She spent 17 years managing microbiology laboratories at Botswana’s National Health Laboratory and overseeing microbiology services at a national level. Her work has focused on strengthening microbiology diagnostics, surveillance, and research capacity through training laboratory personnel, supporting national surveillance systems, and managing infectious disease outbreaks.

She has contributed to collaborative research on the molecular microbiology of enteric infections in Botswana and played a key role in establishing national paediatric gastroenteritis and rotavirus surveillance programmes.She is currently a lecturer at the University of Botswana, where she trains medical laboratory scientists and continues to contribute to research in infectious diseases, particularly antimicrobial resistance.
