Robert Krause is a Research Associate in the Leslie Laboratory at the Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI), Durban, South Africa. His research interests span communicable diseases, with a background in malaria diagnostics during his PhD. He has also contributed to multiple SARS-CoV-2 studies during the COVID-19 pandemic before transitioning his focus to tuberculosis (TB).

His current work investigates B cell immunology in TB, particularly within the human TB lung. He studies immune cell aggregates containing B cells located near tuberculous lesions, aiming to understand whether these structures contribute to controlling TB infection or whether they may instead support disease progression.

SANTHE is an Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) flagship programme funded by the Science for Africa Foundation through the DELTAS Africa programme; the Gates Foundation; Gilead Sciences Inc.; and the Ragon Institute of Mass General, MIT, and Harvard.
