Clive M. Michelo is the lead scientist at the Centre for Family Health Research in Zambia (CFHRZ), Lusaka, Zambia. He previously trained as a postdoctoral fellow through the SANTHE and participated in International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) programmes, including ADVANCE and VISTA, focused on building African-led HIV research capacity.

His research focuses on developing immunological tools and methods to identify CD8 T-cell responses associated with spontaneous HIV-1 viral control. He works on optimizing CD8 T-cell epitope selection and prioritization to support the design of a universal T-cell-based HIV vaccine aimed at achieving durable, population-level immunity.

SANTHE is an Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) flagship programme funded by the Science for Africa Foundation through the DELTAS Africa programme; the Gates Foundation; Gilead Sciences Inc.; and the Ragon Institute of Mass General, MIT, and Harvard.
