Loveness Mukuka has a background in clinical bio-analysis and public health and has contributed to research projects on HIV, tuberculosis, and SARS-CoV-2, with a strong emphasis on translational infectious disease research.
At CFHRZ, she works within a multidisciplinary team involved in HIV-1 vaccine development and community health studies. Her PhD research focuses on the biomedical, social, and ethical considerations of HIV cure-related trials among people living with HIV in Zambia, with the aim of improving trial design, ensuring participant safety, and strengthening partner protection in resource-limited settings.
Her work integrates both scientific and social dimensions of HIV cure research, emphasising that effective interventions must account for community perspectives, behaviour, and lived experience. She is particularly committed to ensuring that advances in HIV cure research are ethical, inclusive, and accessible, bridging the gap between laboratory science and real-world application.
