Neutralisation of HIV-1 subtype C strains from recently infected individuals by broadly neutralising antibodies

Neutralisation of HIV-1 subtype C strains from recently infected individuals by broadly neutralising antibodies

HIV-1 neutralising and non-neutralising antibodies have been shown to play a role as correlates of protection from infection. It is important to determine the ability of these bnAbs to neutralise HIV-1C strains especially those from recent infections as this remains the predominant HIV subtype globally. Mbangiwa hopes that this project will expand the repository of HIV-1C Env-pseudoviruses from recent infections in Botswana and provide data on the capacity of some of the recently identified HIV-1 broadly neutralising antibodies to neutralise these viruses.
