Ivan Mwebaza is a post-doctoral researcher with training in nursing (BSc), Immunology and Clinical Microbiology MSc, from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda, and a PhD from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, USA. He has co-authored five peer-reviewed publications, including one as first author and two as second author.

His research focuses on host–pathogen interactions using immuno-proteomics approaches and high-throughput T cell receptor sequencing to identify immunodominant epitopes during active tuberculosis infection. This work aims to improve understanding of immune responses in TB and support the development of better immunological tools for disease control.

SANTHE is a pan-African consortium, with the Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) serving as the operational site lead and funded by the Science for Africa Foundation through the DELTAS Africa programme; the Gates Foundation; Gilead Sciences Inc.; Aidsfonds; and the Ragon Institute of Mass General, MIT, and Harvard.
