LEADING HIV CURE EFFORTS IN AFRICA

As a leading partner in The Africa HIV Cure Consortium (AHCC), SANTHE recently organised an 2025 HIV Cure Agenda-Setting Workshop at the United Hotel International in Yaoundé, Cameroon, 22-23 May. The aim of the meeting was to bring together a diverse community of experts from scientists to advocates to discuss HIV cure, gain a better understanding of where the field is in West Africa (with a focus on Cameroon), and what the next steps should be to advance HIV cure research in the region. Through the meeting, the AHCC intends to draft a country-specific HIV Cure agenda for the next five years and hopes this effort will strengthen other regional efforts in this space and contribute to all pan-African HIV Cure efforts.

SANTHE is an Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) flagship programme funded by the Science for Africa Foundation through the DELTAS Africa programme; the Gates Foundation; Gilead Sciences Inc.; and the Ragon Institute of Mass General, MIT, and Harvard.
