The Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) is one of South Africa’s largest independent research institutes, with secured funding from world renown agencies, including the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Wellcome Trust, to support its activities up to 2023 and beyond.

Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) Wellcome Trust Research Programme (KWTRP), Kilifi, Kenya

The KEMRI Wellcome Trust Research Programme (KWTRP) is based within the KEMRI (Kenya Medical Research Institute) Centre for Geographic Medical Research. Its core activities are funded by the Wellcome Trust. The Programme conducts integrated epidemiological, social, laboratory and clinical research in parallel, with results feeding into local and international health policy.

Rwanda Zambia HIV Research Group (RZHRG), Kigali, Rwanda and Lusaka & Ndola, Zambia

The Rwanda Zambia HIV Research Group (RZHRG) - with centres in Kigali, Rwanda, Lusaka, Zambia and the Copperbelt, Zambia - has been a global leader in the fight against HIV/AIDS for more than 25 years, supporting Couples Voluntary Counselling and Testing (CVCT) throughout sub-Saharan Africa. In the RZHRG model, HIV test results are shared with the partners together, and they work with counsellors to develop a plan to address the impact of HIV/AIDS in their lives.

Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership (BHP), Gaborone, Botswana

The Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership (BHP) was established in 1996 and is a collaborative research and training initiative between the Government of Botswana and Harvard AIDS Initiative. BHP is an organisation that supports the country’s HIV/AIDS and public health research, education, prevention, and treatment services. The institute has partnered with the Botswana government to conduct research and provide assistance in education, training, monitoring, and evaluation to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic and other pressing public health issues.
