Upasana Ramphal transitioned from industry to academia to pursue her Masters in Medical Science at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in Durban, South Africa. She was previously involved in enzyme technology research as well as in validation of equipment, processes, utilities and in the management of a Microbiology laboratory. Due to her passion in research and science, she made the decision to join the SANTHE network and contribute towards a solution for the infectious diseases that plague our world. Her current research interest focuses on human leukocyte antigens (HLA’s) and their expression levels. She believes that her experience in industry has provided her with a deeper passion for science and has given her the opportunity to expand her ambitions.
