SANTHE Post-doc nets Africa STARS Fellowship

Congratulations to SANTHE Post-doctoral Fellow Natasha Moraka-Mankge, from the Botswana Harvard Health Partnership (BHP) site in Gaborone, Botswana, who has been selected as a 2026 African STARS Fellow.

As part of the fellowship, Moraka-Mankge will participate in Advanced Technical Training (ATT) at the Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation (CERI) at Stellenbosch University, Western Cape, South Africa. The programme is designed to strengthen scientific skills, leadership and research capacity among Africa’s next generation of researchers.

The African STARS Fellowship is delivered in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and aims to equip talented young scientists with the expertise and networks needed to address pressing challenges in health and development across the continent. Moraka-Mankge’s selection reflects both her scientific potential and the growing strength of African-led research. Her achievement also highlights the importance of investing in emerging researchers who will help shape the future of science and innovation in Africa.

We congratulate Moraka-Mankge, who started out with SANTHE many years ago as an intern, on this well-deserved recognition and wish her every success as she embarks on this new opportunity.

SANTHE is an Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) flagship programme funded by the Science for Africa Foundation through the DELTAS Africa programme; the Gates Foundation; Gilead Sciences Inc.; and the Ragon Institute of Mass General, MIT, and Harvard.
