Faiaz was born and raised in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. He holds a doctoral degree in Biochemistry from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and is currently a post-doctoral research fellow.
His research focuses on identifying differences in tissue responses to HIV between adults and children. This work aims to improve understanding of age-related variation in HIV infection and immune response, with the goal of informing more effective treatment strategies across the life course.
A key aspect of his research is supporting the development of HIV treatments tailored for children and addressing challenges related to antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence as individuals transition from adolescence into adulthood.
