HIV-1 Negative factor (Nef) protein plays a fundamental role in the pathogenesis of HIV. It contributes to the downregulation of HLA and CD4. Given the high viral diversity of HIV in Cameroon, Sonela’s team wish to use the function of HIV-Nef to describe HIV pathogenesis. They aim to provide supporting data to qualify Nef as a good marker for disease progression in HIV infected patients.
