Project Level:

This will be the first study to report on the prevailing M. tuberculosis genotypes in Botswana and their association with HIV co-infection. This study also presents the first overview of M. tuberculosis genotypes circulating in Botswana using two different molecular typing methods. It will provide insight into the molecular diversity of the studied populations including identification of mutations associated with development of resistance to RIF and INH, belonging to a certain mycobacterial genotype. The genotyping data obtained in this study will be used to establish a database of strain types circulating in different regions of Botswana.
