Todowede is interested in the health outcome of HIV infected patients beyond antiretroviral treatment that assist in treating and managing the virus. Thus, her interest in the epidemiology and impact of non-communicable diseases among HIV infected patients, specifically metabolic and cardiovascular disorders. Her current project looks at holistic and improved health outcome of people that are infected with HIV/AIDS. It investigates the burden and risk factors of metabolic syndrome, diabetes and hypertension among HIV infected and uninfected population in KwaZulu-Natal, a hyper endemic HIV setting.
