Todowede is interested in the health outcome of HIV infected patients beyond antiretroviral treatment that assist in treating and managing the virus. Thus, her interest in the epidemiology and impact of non-communicable diseases among HIV infected patients, specifically metabolic and cardiovascular disorders. Her project investigates the burden and risk factors of metabolic syndrome, diabetes and hypertension among HIV infected and uninfected population in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, a hyper endemic HIV setting.
